I don't know how to form sentences. How to learn to express your thoughts correctly. Build sentences correctly
Be able to express your thoughts correctly is a skill that most of us have to master. In fact, at school they constantly tried to teach us this skill: remember what the homework was - to learn and retell a paragraph in class? But it’s clear that somehow we were taught wrong, if not everyone manages not only to retell the information they read or heard, but also to correctly express their thoughts. Clear and precise.
If you do not fully understand whether you are able to say what you want to others in a literate language, test yourself: see how other people perceive your speech, or record your speech on a voice recorder and then listen to it. Both tests will give an absolutely correct picture: whether you need to further train your speaking ability, or whether you will understand that the result satisfied you.
Yes, the ability to express your thoughts competently is a skill that must be trained. Surely you have met in your life interesting people, whose speech was illiterate, uninteresting and boring. As a result, the impression of the person deteriorated, which, in fact, could happen in relation to you. Learning to speak in a way that is literate, beautiful and convincing is not an easy task. Some people are given this gift by nature, while others try to master this skill all their lives.
Are you also familiar with this situation? Or another example: many people express their thoughts better in writing than in conversation. The ability to delete, correct bad places and having time to think about a proposal make this skill more accessible to many than participating in a dialogue or own monologue. But realizing that ours directly depends on this skill, we have to learn the secrets of the masters in order to learn to correctly express our thoughts and reach a qualitatively new level of communication and interaction with other people.
So, let’s outline an important problem, because of which we may want to learn how to correctly formulate our thoughts.
Misunderstanding between people
The ability to communicate is the ability of a person to express his thoughts. Analyze your communication with your environment. Do you often quarrel? Do your friends and relatives not understand you? Are you unable to convey the main idea at a presentation or in a conversation with your boss? It's time to change the situation, because the reason is not what you say, but how you say it. It's time to become a person who makes a good impression.
All recommendations are practical and will definitely help you learn to express your thoughts correctly. You must understand that you should not expect quick results, but the process is so interesting that from the first days you will begin to notice the changes that will occur. The most important thing that you need to really want and achieve is the desire to communicate on equal terms with a large circle of people and to be an interesting interlocutor for them. Your life will sparkle with new colors!

I seem to know a lot of words, but when I start talking to my opponent, I suddenly run out of words))), I can’t find words, I seem to know in my head what I want to say, but I can’t use my tongue, I start to get nervous, I start to twitch and in the end I look like a person who cannot connect two words(((.
All this affects my self-esteem, I begin to consider myself a loser, stupid (((
At the moment I am looking for a job, they invite me to an interview and it seems to me that I look insecure and complex there.
Please advise what should I do?Hello! I write stories and poems very well, but after giving birth I felt stuck, I can’t put two words together, even with friends I communicate with pauses, I try to remember the middle of a sentence, this is actually some kind of brake, because of the birth I’m in such a stupor, the birth is over ok, or have I completely switched to the role of mom, and my thoughts just won’t come together? I don’t understand anything, I always communicated well with everyone!(
Hello! I’m 23 years old, I used to be sociable, I was the center of attention in company, I always found mutual language with people.. I knew what to say and how to react. Since childhood I have had a speech problem, stuttering, I didn’t pay attention to it before, everything was fine. A couple of months ago I changed my place of residence, it was very difficult for me to endure the move.. to a new place I sat at home for days, of course alone, waiting for my boyfriend, he is an officer. I missed people, communication, fuss. Then I gradually withdrew into myself, began to worry about little things, and took everything very close to my heart. Now I have returned back to my native land. .but this feeling remains..I can’t put two words together, I want to run away and hide so that no one sees me..the stuttering has returned again, which is not happy. I began to devote a lot of time to books. but this does not help. I feel like I’m looking askance all over me, I feel out of place, I want to get rid of this, I want to become the same cheerful, sociable girl. I’ll try to apply the methods described in the article, I really hope it will help ((((
Good afternoon Elena! My problem is that I don’t know how to express my thoughts correctly. I can't write sentences correctly. When I try to explain something, apart from a huge number of words of parasites (well, damn it, as it were, I think, etc.), I can’t give anything away. I have reviewed a huge number of different trainings, mostly they teach you to be more courageous, they teach you how to present yourself correctly, they teach you to be self-confident. But I haven’t come across a single training that specifically teaches how to form sentences and phrases. I have not seen a single training that would teach the correct language spoken by, for example, announcers, news anchors, etc. I also saw this suggestion-advice for those who want to learn public speaking, read more books. But my problem is that I read a lot, but nothing sticks in my head. Perhaps this is due to my poor memory. I work as a commercial department manager in a construction company, and when I communicate with clients, I very often lack the right and necessary words that will hook the client and interest them. Please tell me something that can be done. The only thing I can see is to take an explanatory dictionary of the Russian language and learn all the words, but this is not realistic.
At our institute we had such a subject - rhetoric, which teaches how to correctly construct a sentence, remember other people’s statements, and captivate an audience with the help of “words”. The ability to speak greatly gives confidence in life, communication, work... For those who want to master the art of oratory, I can recommend rhetoric courses. Expressing your thoughts correctly is a truly valuable skill.
It is useful for every person to know how to correctly express their thoughts. Words have extraordinary power. They become the cause of war, thanks to them civilizations collapse, and the most fateful events occur. If you correctly convey the necessary information to your interlocutor, you can achieve any goal in life. The art of public speaking is within the power of any interested beginner. A huge amount of literature has been created in the world on the topic of communication between people.
Miscommunication is a problem of the 21st century
An unsuccessfully spoken phrase often becomes a reason to incite conflict in the family, at work, or between peoples. When communicating, it is important to know how to correctly express your thoughts. Families are destroyed because of a lack of understanding of the interlocutor, and wrong decisions are made. It happens that the situation cannot be corrected.
Failures in new interviews or in business are associated with the inability to speak. By voicing thoughts out loud at the right moment, a person can occupy a high position or please loved ones. It is not an easy task to organize a public debate on any topic. But in any business you need diligence.
Not a single speaker was born with a clear head and clearly defined diction. All of them learned at one time through fear and embarrassment, overcoming the surrounding indifference. It’s easy to watch how a speaker at the microphone quickly and coherently pronounces entire poems, stories, and conveys a pressing problem to those around him.
To become a master at anything, you need to start making mistakes. Only through your own cones comes an understanding of how to correctly express your thoughts. You need to go straight to practice, then the acquisition will be guaranteed real experience. In addition, they study methods for developing clear thinking.
Preparing for a speech
At the beginning of learning public speaking, experienced leaders recommend writing down your thoughts at any convenient moment. Future speech must be constantly thought through, looking for flaws and ugly phrases. It may take you a month of daily research to get just one sheet of perfectly linked text.
Expressing your thoughts in writing is useful; the next day you can evaluate your creativity from the outside. Sometimes it will seem that the sheet reflects complete nonsense. But you shouldn’t do it, but it’s better to take it and modify the text later. It’s not for nothing that famous poets wait for months for the muse to write just two lines. The brain of any person works similarly.
Perhaps an idea will appear on the road, but saying your thoughts out loud will be somehow inconvenient. A smartphone or a classic piece of paper will come to the rescue. Poets still use ink, it is developing, and from such a medium it is easier to perceive what is written in one’s own hand.
Voice recorder and gestures
It is better to exclude unnecessary repetitions of words. You need to express your thoughts briefly without using templates. You will have to memorize the text. You can read from a piece of paper, but such a speaker is not taken seriously. Literacy is the basis for attracting attention.
In the video you can often see hands trying to find pockets. You will have to hold the pose until the end of the discussion, and this moment should not be overlooked. The interlocutor should grasp the meaning of the conversation, and not observe shyness and awkward movements.
Facial expressions are important in any conversation so that the interlocutor does not fall asleep. It is advisable to express goodwill and seriousness. An ever-smiling face will be comparable to simplicity and disinterest in affairs.
Diction
A delivered speech is the key to half the success. A loud and clear voice always attracts the attention of the crowd. And if the interlocutor is alone, then he definitely won’t get bored. This can be learned if a person does not have physical defects of the larynx. But the sonority of the tone will not affect the semantic content in any way.
It is better to practice not in crowded places first. It is recommended to shout loudly while reading the speech. It is better if this happens in a field or an empty hall. This is how they quickly learn foreign pronunciation. Exist practical examples, when a person from a lonely settlement has no accent at all, having studied an alien language.
The tone of the voice is also important; the interlocutor should not perceive speech by straining the hearing aid. Monotony is unacceptable; thoughts must be expressed in bursts and changes in words. It is better if sometimes there are minor pauses, at this moment the listener tries to collect himself and continue the conversation. You can get your attention back with a diluent in the form of a prepared joke.
Literacy
In order to correctly express thoughts on your chosen topic, you must first delve into the basics of the subject. Without understanding the question, the words will be confused, and the prepared text will look like the work of an amateur. Reading books helps improve the situation.
A competent person is more trustworthy. A week you need to read one work in your chosen field of at least 100 pages. It is recommended to select literature under the guidance of a qualified specialist. Russian classics will help you improve your vocabulary.
Memory and speaking technique training
It is not enough to speak on the chosen topic and understand it; you also need to know how to learn to express your thoughts correctly. To do this, they work on thinking. After all, it’s one thing to express the words you’ve memorized in advance, and another thing to competently conduct the conversation in the right direction.
In the process of discussing a problem, laconicism is encouraged. However, no one needs long silence either. During the period of talkativeness of the interlocutor, you can remember the material and collect your thoughts.
The conversation is supported by standard phrases that indicate that you are listening.
It is not recommended to be distracted and look away. It's better to smile and shake your head in agreement. When order is restored in your thoughts, it would be useful to gently interrupt your opponent and start talking about more pressing things. Casual acquaintances and discussing any issue with the first person you meet will help you increase your experience in such things.
Overcome the fear of public speaking
The ability to express one’s thoughts strengthens during mass discussions. Everyone has had the opportunity to give a presentation in class in front of their peers. Some students felt very uncomfortable during their speech. Only practice will help you overcome shyness. The random audience on the bus will only say thank you if you read any passage of prose to them.
It’s hard to decide on this, and it can result in embarrassment. But experience grows in proportion to the accumulated failures. During your first attempts, it is recommended to remember that human memory is short. Even if the speech causes laughter, the next day each listener will plunge into his own worries and forget not only the words, but also the failed speaker himself.
But on the tenth attempt, the right thoughts will arise in your head, and they can be easily conveyed to the crowd. The cause of confusion is often self-doubt. There are a huge number of techniques that increase self-esteem.
How to find strength in yourself?
Many beginners lose the desire after their first attempts. However, if you fail, you need to start describing the events that happened earlier. You shouldn’t concentrate on ridiculous moments; you should understand the reason for the embarrassment. Often during public speaking you come across one negative listener. It just ruins the whole mood.
The speaker’s task is to find a sympathetic person in the crowd and begin to express his thoughts as if to him. Then the tongue will not get confused, and positive energy will be reflected through the speaker into the audience. However, it is better to start training in a familiar company, so as not to get into trouble.
Help from professionals
There is absolutely no shame in using outside help. The best speakers who have already spoken publicly have accumulated experience. Psychologists correct constrained character in a short time.
Choose better known and proven self-esteem growth courses. But you shouldn’t forget about daily practice. Only real communication can bring a person out of the snail state. Not a single smart book you read will increase the level of your thinking process as much as trying to talk to a stranger about a topic that interests you.
Correctly expressing your thoughts and speaking beautifully is the key to successful communication in society, which you can learn at any age. In order for others to understand you perfectly and avoid awkward pauses, you should train not only your diction, but also “pump up” your brain.
Components of competent speech
Interaction between people occurs through speech. Communication skills in society directly depend on how developed it is. In addition, correct and beautiful speech is the key to understanding others around you of the conveyed thoughts, and, accordingly, higher chances of being able to convey your thoughts and desires as accurately as possible.
There are also a number of reasons why it is vital to learn how to express yourself correctly:
- to be able to convey your thoughts and get correct answers to questions asked;
- for development and learning: in order to gain new knowledge, you should be able to correctly formulate requests;
- to achieve success in professional activities;
- for the sake of developing structured thinking.
Beautiful and competent speech includes several basic “components”, without which it is difficult to achieve understanding of others:
- Diction is a fundamental component of beautiful speech. Clearly defined diction allows you to speak correctly and clearly, which gives the listener an excellent opportunity to understand the speaker.
- Proper breathing - thanks to this skill, speech will be smooth and measured, without long pauses and “grasping for air” at the most crucial moment.
- Conciseness - do not “burden down” your speech with complex terms, incomprehensible phrases and long sentences. It is true what they say that “brevity is the sister of talent.” Guided by this statement, you should exclude from the speech everything that will “disturb the listener’s ears” and leave only important facts.
- Content is the essence of the conversation, which should be maintained throughout the conversation. You should not jump from thought to thought, trying to capture as much information as possible. It is better to do this gradually, without changing the original meaning of the information being transmitted.
- Logic is the most important “detail” of an intelligent conversation. You can have as rich a vocabulary as you like, but not be able to apply them in practice. The logic of presentation lies in the ability to formulate thoughts into complete sentences so that the listener grasps the essence of what was said the first time.
- Vocabulary - in fact, you can’t live without it. To be able to express your emotions, desires and feelings to a sufficient extent, you need to know how to describe it all in words. Therefore, a rich vocabulary is a companion to beautiful and competent speech.
- Oratory - speaking freely in public and the ability to beautifully and expressively present oneself and one’s thoughts is valued in society. Talented speakers can convince listeners of anything, encourage them to take new actions and motivate them. Therefore, such a skill is useful both in work and in study.
Logophobia - what is it?
Speech helps you become a full member of society. But there are a number of cases when communications become more complicated - among such disorders are logophobia.
Logophobia (also known as glossophobia) is a pathological anxiety disorder in which the patient is afraid to speak. Most often, the fear of speaking occurs in people with speech defects (stuttering). When this phobia develops, a person’s self-esteem decreases significantly and self-doubt develops.
Gradually, a patient with established logophobia becomes alienated from the outside world, limiting himself to a narrow comfort zone. He is afraid to enter into dialogue with others, as he is very worried about the impression he makes. In addition, society is not always tolerant of this kind of problem - many may perceive a stutterer with ridicule, which only aggravates their unstable mental state.
It should be noted that there are 3 types of stuttering:
- Neurotic - formed after a strong nervous shock or psychological trauma. It can occur at any age and worsens with anxiety. Thus, stuttering increases in stressful situations and may be completely absent in casual conversation.
- Neurosis-like stuttering is a type of stuttering that develops as a result of organic pathologies of the brain. In this case, logophobia becomes a consequence of another disease - a person hears his own speech, he does not like it, after which an inferiority complex develops and a fear of speaking out in public.
- Mixed is the most common type of stuttering. Initially, the patient is diagnosed with neurosis-like stuttering, after which, over time, the patient begins to experience embarrassment when expressing his thoughts. This becomes the “soil” for the formation of logophobia, which then acts as an “amplifier” of stuttering. Thus, than more people afraid to speak, the more he stutters.
Interesting to know! According to the American Psychiatric Organization, about 90% of speakers experience difficulties in expressing their own thoughts.
In addition to stuttering, there are a number of genetic and social preconditions that contribute to the development of logophobia. Genetic “catalysts” include:
- general level of anxiety;
- strength or weakness of the nervous system;
- type of temperament;
- general mobility of mental processes.
If we talk about social factors influencing the emergence of fear of speaking, the following should be highlighted:
- dysfunctional parenting (too strict parents teach the child to listen more than to speak independently);
- psychological trauma associated with the harsh reaction of society to incorrect statements of the patient - for example, the object of the study made a semantic or speech error when presenting a report to a wide audience, he was ridiculed and the brain decided “not to get into such a situation”;
- inability to accept criticism and fear of being ridiculed;
- feeling of inferiority.
The danger of a phobia lies in the fact that a person with a developed fear of speaking in public may experience not only communication problems, but also other problems:
- formation of low self-esteem;
- risk of developing social phobia;
- attempts to avoid public places;
- “escape” from responsibility;
- refusal of a prestigious job and a decrease in living standards;
- limited comfort zone;
- constant psycho-emotional stress.
To avoid unpleasant consequences, you should start getting rid of fear in time.
To learn to express thoughts clearly and clearly, as well as to have beautiful and understandable speech, you should pay attention to 3 main factors: diction, concentration on a specific object and outlook.
Diction control
Almost every child under the age of 6 faces problems with diction. At the stage of formation of the speech apparatus, it is quite simple to solve this issue by visiting a speech therapist or simple home exercises. At an older age, training diction is much more difficult - the problem lies in the established habits of speaking incorrectly.
But, despite the difficulties, even at a conscious age you can develop beautiful speech. To do this, you should follow a speech therapy technique consisting of 4 simple steps.
Articulation organ training
Organs of articulation include lips, teeth, alveoli, palate, tongue and jaws. These organs are involved in the process of speech production and voice formation.
Their development occurs with the help of simple exercises, which are recommended to be performed in front of a mirror. Each exercise should be repeated 10-15 times daily for 1 month.
- With your mouth wide open, begin to rotate your jaw clockwise and then counterclockwise. After circular movements, move your jaw to the right and left, fixing it in each position for 3-4 seconds.
- You should imagine that you are yawning. In this case, each “yawn” must be accompanied by sounds - AAH, EAH, UUH.
- Take in some air, “puffing out your cheeks” as you do so. After this, release the air, making a characteristic “poof” sound. Next, repeat the exercise with inflating your cheeks without taking in air.
- Take a little air into your cheeks and “roll” it around your lips from one side to the other, without opening your mouth.
- Stretch your upper lip towards your nose, then take a break and relax your muscles. Next, stretch your lower lip towards your chin. Alternate exercises 10-15 times each.
- Taking a vertical position, relax your lips. Next, you need to “draw” an apple in the air with your lips. Then repeat the “drawing” with all moving parts of the face - eyebrows and eyes.
Speech therapy massage
This technique is used not only to improve the functioning of the speech apparatus, but also for the following purposes:
- sound pronunciation correction;
- strengthening the vocal cords;
- normalization of breathing;
- strengthening pharyngeal reflexes;
- elimination of stuttering.
For hypotension, the following massage technique is used:
- Rub your cheeks with light movements in the direction from the sinuses to the temples.
- Next, continue to knead your cheeks towards the ears with rotational movements.
- Continue massaging the cheeks with pinching movements in a chaotic manner and finish with stroking movements from the temples to the upper lip.
- Stretch your lips - to do this you need to lightly pinch them from the center to the corners.
- Stroke the forehead area from the middle to the temples - it is recommended to use the middle or index finger.
For patients who have been found to have hypertonicity of the facial muscles, a slightly different technique of speech therapy massage is distinguished:
- The massage should begin with light stroking movements along the neck in the direction of hair growth on the back of the head to the collar area.
- Next, move with massaging movements from the temple to the middle of the forehead, gradually rising to the scalp.
- From the temples to the nostrils, move your fingers with rotational movements, while lightly pressing on the skin.
- Knead your lips using light pressure and stroking from the corners to the middle of the mouth.
Improved concentration
Clear and structured speech is possible only with full concentration of attention on the speaker’s story. As practice shows, no matter how erudite and inquisitive a person is, without composure he will not be able to express his thoughts correctly.
The level of attention and arousal of the brain is controlled by two main hormones - dopamine and norepinephrine.
Important! Dopamine promotes concentration on one specific goal, and norepinephrine allows you to be attentive to everything that happens from the outside.
Simply put, to increase concentration, you should increase the level of these hormones in the blood. This effect can be achieved with simple recommendations.
- Avoid overwork. Scientists have proven that a person who has not slept for 21 or more hours in a row is not able to make adequate decisions and think sensibly - his condition is equivalent to a deep stage of alcohol intoxication. The same effect is observed in those who sleep no more than 3-4 hours for 4 or more days. Therefore, it is very important to monitor your sleep patterns and keep them normal.
- Do what you love. Studies have shown that the anticipation of something pleasant causes the release of that same dopamine. To provoke the release of the hormone, you need to do your favorite things that bring pleasure.
In addition, by following simple advice from psychologists, you can learn to be more focused and structure your thinking.
- Learn to plan. Correctly distributing energy and time is very important, since it is this skill that contributes to the development of discipline and structured actions.
- Follow the biorhythm. For some, the productive time of day is day, and for others, night. It is advisable not to try to “break” your own biorhythm - this will allow you to be as productive as possible.
- Don't spray. In order to perform the assigned tasks more efficiently, you should take on them one by one.
- Don't put things off. “I’ll do it later, it’s not on right now” is a phrase that can completely disrupt your inner composure and bring dissonance into everyday life. If there are important things to do, it is better to do them right away than to put them on the back burner.
- Learn to relax. Those who work well should also rest well. In order not to become overworked and not to bring the body to a stressful state, you should alternate any activity with rest.
Expanding your horizons
A fundamental component of development is broadening one’s horizons. This allows you to maintain any conversation, be interesting in communication and be remembered by your sharp mind. In the modern world, acquiring new knowledge is very easy - you can get information from a wide variety of sources.
- Reading books. The main source of development and obtaining useful information is reading. Literature can be very different - from light fiction to complex books in the field of psychology or philosophy. It is recommended to read 1-2 diverse books every month - this will not only enrich your vocabulary, but also significantly expand your horizons.
- Trips. To see the world and get to know other cultures, you need to travel - this will allow you to get to know other cultures, customs, and become familiar with something new and unknown. In addition, it is through travel that you can learn foreign languages.
- Expand your social circle. The more diverse personalities you surround yourself with, the more useful information you can glean from them.
- Attend trainings, webinars, courses. To broaden your horizons, you should constantly improve your professional skills. For this purpose, there are now many different training programs aimed at improving skills.
- Attend exhibitions, museums, theaters. “Get involved in the beautiful” - it’s not for nothing that you can hear this recommendation from all teachers. Visiting cultural institutions contributes to the study of art and the formation of imaginative thinking.
- Watch educational TV shows. Unfortunately, they rarely show anything sensible on TV - mostly entertainment programs. But if you choose this miracle of technology as a way to spend your leisure time, then it is better to do it usefully and watch educational programs about cooking, travel, and so on.
Speaking beautifully and expressing your thoughts clearly is a real art. This skill allows you to convince your interlocutors of the correctness of your statements, while the speaker’s speech is not oversaturated with emotions and has the correct intonation.
Interesting to know! Scientists say that eloquence can be natural or acquired.
In the first case, a person speaks in public with ease from early childhood, easily gains attention to his stories and can easily support any topic (even one in which he is not very well versed).
In the second, it is an acquired skill that has been developed over the years. In this case, you should work hard on establishing diction, developing your horizons and the ability to attract a listener. To speak beautifully, there are also 7 tips that will help make your speech pleasant and even a little attractive.
There are many modern books that can be used to develop a speaker. They are aimed at eliminating phobias, improving rhetoric and building confidence when speaking in public.
Among the huge amount of useful literature, we should highlight the TOP 9 most popular and useful manuals for beginning speakers.
- “Performing is easy. Everything you need to know about speeches and presentations by Max Atkinson.
- “Secrets of great speakers. Talk like Churchill, act like Lincoln." James Humes.
- How to Talk to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere by Larry King.
- "The Art of Winning Arguments" by Arthur Schopenhauer.
- “Learn to speak so that you are heard”, Elvira Sarabyan.
- "Tell to Win" by Peter Guber.
- "The Art of Speaking and Listening" by Mortimer Adler.
- "TED Talk" by Jeremy Donavan.
- "Sell Your Idea" by Sam Harrison.
The ability to competently, clearly and clearly express one’s thoughts is a very important quality for any person. Many people spoil the initial impression of themselves by simply starting to speak illiterately, tongue-tied or uncertainly. Perhaps you also have some shortcomings in public speaking?
Even if you don’t need public speaking in your work, and you don’t plan to work as a television news announcer, wedding presenter or tour guide in the near future, beautiful speech and correct pronunciation are still an integral part of a successful personality! By hearing you speak, many people form an impression of you, and it is in your hands to ensure that it is a positive one. In addition, a person who knows how to speak beautifully and competently more often bypasses his opponent in a dispute, presenting relevant arguments in a timely manner at the moment when the interlocutor is just trying to convey his point.
How to learn to speak competently
Do not neglect reading good literature - give preference to the classic works of Dostoevsky, Pasternak, Tolstoy or other famous writers. Gradually you will learn to construct sentences correctly and enrich your vocabulary.
Train your memory - memorize interesting quatrains or passages from books. This will help you in the ability to express thoughts beautifully - now you will not try to frantically remember some word that would be appropriate in your phrase, but was forgotten.
How to develop good speech
Go to book Shop and ask the seller to recommend a book on public speaking. A reference book on speech culture would also be useful. It is worth noting that various rhetoric classes are quite popular now, both for children and adults. Also, we should not forget about video lessons, which are present in abundance on the Internet.
There are many exciting and good exercise that will help you develop your speech. Every day, choose one word (verb or noun) for yourself. During the day, try to select various synonyms and antonyms for the chosen word. For example, your choice fell on the word “attractive”. Synonyms – beautiful, pleasant, delightful, attractive, etc. Antonyms – ugly, ugly, unpleasant, etc.
There is another interesting exercise. Turn your gaze to any object that at first glance may seem completely uninteresting - it could be an iron, a watch, a cup, a slipper, etc. Now you need to describe this item for 3 minutes, talking about its purpose, advantages and disadvantages - do not repeat yourself in the characteristics. The next day, choose another item and increase the description a little to 5 minutes. Throughout the week, if you have free time, do this exercise at least once a day, and you will notice how positively it will affect your speech.
Learn to express your thoughts beautifully and culturally
It is almost impossible to achieve a beautiful speech if it contains slang or, even worse, swear words. You may think that using such words will give your speech a special charm, but, as a rule, this is not at all the case. Many people are simply put off by obscene expressions, and not everyone understands the meaning of slang words.
Watch what and how you say, do not clutter your speech with uncultured words, because this way you can create the wrong impression of yourself. It is important to be able to highlight in your story what the listener should pay special attention to. There is no need to delve into unnecessary details and start with long prefaces - this may only be interesting to you, but boring to your interlocutor.
To learn to speak quickly, try starting with speed reading. It is important to note that we are talking about reading aloud. Read a couple of paragraphs with expression, at a normal pace - note how much time it took you. Next time, try to speed up a little until you achieve the desired result. Even when reading quickly, it is necessary to maintain clarity of pronunciation - no “swallowed” endings or incorrect accents. Also pay attention to expressiveness.
The ability to speak quickly can be very useful, but there is no use for using it unless absolutely necessary in everyday life. Many people do not like it when their interlocutor chatters; they do not have time to grasp the meaning of the spoken phrase and communication becomes quite problematic.
Step-by-step instruction
Constructing correct sentences
If you still cannot immediately construct each of your sentences correctly, then regular practice and training will help you. It will be useful if you start keeping a personal diary. Every evening, describe in it the events of the past day and your relationship to them. Subsequently, re-read what you wrote. You will immediately understand which phrases and words stand out from the general text and are not in harmony with it.
In addition, it will be very useful to listen to audiobooks at any convenient opportunity - when you eat in the car, do household chores, apply makeup, and the like.
Reading books will help increase your vocabulary
Probably nothing can increase your vocabulary as much as reading literature. We are talking not only about the classics, but also about modern authors. A person who reads a lot gradually not only increases his intellectual level and acquires new knowledge, but also learns to express his thoughts beautifully.
The choice of good books is very large, and you can easily find something that suits your taste. If you want to spend your time usefully and are interested in science, then pay attention to such an author as F. Stephen and his work “The Book of General Delusions.”
Perhaps you want to immerse yourself in some exciting plot - read “The Master and Margarita” by Bulgakov or “Crime and Punishment” by Dostoevsky.
Fans of foreign detective stories may be interested in the works about Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, or Agatha Christie and her unsurpassed Héccle Poirot.
Perhaps you feel the need for philosophical literature? You might like Nausea by Jean Paul Sartre or The Little Prince by Antoine Exupery.
